Kōtare / sacred kingfishers are a common sight around estuaries and in some areas of native forests. Glimpses of kōtare are often fleeting because of their timid nature, often all that can be seen is a trail of blue. They feed on crabs, small fish and insects which they watch from a good vantage point like power pole or trees before pouncing on.

This print is created with long-lasting matte pigment inks on textured, high quality archival 100% cotton rag. (Cotton rag is an environmentally responsible paper made from lint fibres - a by-product of the cotton industry).
