Trekking takahē | takahe | New Zealand bird illustration art print
‘Trekking takahē’ features a pair of one of NZ’s most iconic birds, the takahē. This hand signed high quality pigment art print is based on an original gouache illustration by Melissa Boardman.
Takahē are big, blue and beautiful flightless birds that are incredibly rare, with a population of under 500 individuals. They are mostly seen in predator free sanctuaries but also have roaming populations in a few South Island reserves. Takahē are usually seen in pairs side by side and they form life-long bonds with their mate.
This print is created with long-lasting matte pigment inks on textured, high quality archival 100% cotton rag. (Cotton rag is an environmentally responsible paper made from lint fibres - a by-product of the cotton industry).
