‘Night owl’ features one of NZ’s most loved birds, the ruru or morepork. This hand signed high quality pigment print is based on an original gouache illustration by Melissa Boardman.

Ruru are nocturnal birds of prey and are our only surviving native owl species. They are experts at camouflaging themselves, but can sometimes be spotted in forests being mobbed by other bird species. This illustration is inspired by seeing ruru in the wild and watching their menacing stare as they keep a close eye on the other birds circling around them.

This print is created with long-lasting matte pigment inks on textured, high quality archival 100% cotton rag. (Cotton rag is an environmentally responsible paper made from lint fibres - a by-product of the cotton industry).
