Ceramic Birds
Every year at Labour weekend my brain switches from feeling in control to, well, not. It's usually when orders start coming in reasonably regularly and when shops start wanting stock for Christmas. I started planning the end of the year several months ago, signing up to various markets to keep me busy and try to get the rent paid, which isn't easy!
This year has been different because of my new venture into ceramics, I spent quite a few weeks on getting a batch of pieces together for a firing which sadly didn't work out. I know what I have to do different next time but I'm a bit embarrassed that I spent so long on something which was essentially a waste of resources. I'm not giving up though and hope to get back into it next week once I'm more on top of things.
I am starting small and making trinket dishes featuring some of our wonderful native birds. In future I have so many things I want to make, like vases illustrated with conservation stories and rare birds, the possibilities are really endless.
I had a meeting with a lovely staff member at Zealandia Ecosanctuary yesterday and they will be soon stocking my greeting cards and prints, yay. I took the opportunity to go for a walk and see some of the birds that I haven't seen in a while.
