Feeding Time
This is my morning ritual, feeding my loyal waxeyes from my 2 nectar feeders I have in my backyard. Most mornings they wait for me and by the time i've filled up their nectar bottles there's atleast 30 of them in line for feeding time.
Being mid-winter the birds are (well, I think they are) grateful for the supplementary food. I've been feeding the waxeyes since last year so they know there's always food for them when they need it. Lately I've been hearing a Bellbird, which is pretty exciting, as they are not often seen in residential areas.
I finally got photographic evidence of the Bellbird, handsome fellow that he is. I'm so happy to be providing nourishment to such a special bird, although he is a bit mean to the poor little waxeyes, he dive bombs them and tries to scare them away from the feeders.
I now see Mr Bellbird every morning when I fill up the 2 nectar feeders (and now an extra feeding tray due to high demand) each morning. He has become such a regular, maybe I should name him...
